5 Steps to help stay cool this SUMMER!

Let’s be real - in Texas, there is truly not a way to stay 100% cool outside during the summer. Unless you have a pool in your back yard and you are fortunate enough to hire someone else to do the sweating to clean it - like I said, let’s be real here. It’s HOT outside and with what’s going on in our economy, let’s not talk about pool-boy pricing added into the budget. Whew.

Today I am here to share with you a few ways I take the sweat out of our summer days.

Slip-and-slide:

I’m not talking about the giant blow-up slides that seem to be super popular this day in age. I’m talking about the older-fashioned, super simple, ‘you may get a little scrape on your belly’ slip-and-slide. They are cheap & the kids LOVE it! My husband on the other hand has some extra work cut out for him when he has to move the slide and water hose to mow… But it’s worth it. The kids stay cool in the water & the plants near the slide get watered - which is a #Wifewin! 😉

Homemade lemonade:

My kids LOVE freshly squeezed lemonade (but hold the pulp!)

I sometimes get a little ‘extra’ and create an outside drink station for my kiddos - they really enjoy this treat!

Fresh lemonade + a bowl of fruit = happy little healthy eaters.

Library days:

Check out your local library or visit their website for an event calendar! Most libraries have events all throughout the summer to keep kids active and involved with learning. Plus, there’s AC. 😜

Errands:

Most people working the typical 9-5 life aren’t able to do this… But, for those who are able - RUN YOUR ERRANDS IN THE MORNING! The weather is cooler, people are freshly rested… It’s just a heck of a lot more pleasant.

I have a habit of just ordering my groceries online and doing curb side pick-up if I can’t go early enough in the mornings. My local grocery store is really good about communication and not adding extras/or forgetting items. (Thank you Brookshires!)

WATER:

Water. Water. Water. and you guess it — MORE WATER!

Your health, body, and your overall just outlook on life (believe it or not) truly gets better when you consume the proper amount of water daily. Sodas are not good for you — at all. What steered me away from sodas (most of the time — I AM HUMAN) is watching videos of people pour a can of coke on battery terminals and it just eating the rust away. What in the world is it doing inside of your body then? I just cringe thinking about it. Our poor kidneys. Ugh.

Our bodies are partly made of water. Whatever you sweat out just be sure to put it back in. 😉

Of course, there are more ways to help stay cool -- but this is enough rambling from me today. If you have ideas or comments, please list them below or shoot me an email!
Thanks for reading! Remember: You are whole, you are complete, and everything you desire is already around you. ❤️
Forever,
Paige
